Gavin has been airtightness testing since 2006 and has been a member of the NSAI certified tester scheme since its inception in 2008, making him the longest certified NSAI tester in the country. In that time he has tested several thousand buildings and spaces for airtightness, from little cabins to large warehouses. He has been doning thermographic inspections also since 2006 and is PCN Level 2 accredited for Thermal Imaging from BINDT (British institute of Non-destructive testing) in the UK for Building Thermography.
1) Airtightness - Achieving it and testing it
This talk looks at what airtightness is, why it is important and how it can be achieved with a range of building methods.
We look at some failures and successes of different methods to achieve airtightness and cover what seem to be the key things to focus on when trying to achieve airtight buildings. We also look at testing of the buildings - how its done and how to interpret the results.
2) Thermal imaging - Understanding what it is is and how it can be used in Buildings
This talk looks at how thermal imaging is used in the context of buildings.
We look at the required conditions for a successful survey, the equipment used, and examine sample images for a range of phenomena that may be detected using infra red thermography. We also look at some pitfalls that can present when analyzing thermal images.
