The Retrofit department has been a recent addition to KORE, offering building upgrades through SEAI schemes and Deep Retrofit programs.

The Presentation:
KORE Insulated Foundation System – The KORE Insulated Foundation System fully insulates the foundation of the home and is designed to deliver some of the lowest U-values available on the market, all while virtually eliminating the critical wall-to-floor cold bridge. Essentially, the Insulated Foundation System wraps the ground floor in a layer of Expanded Polystyrene to insulate a home from the ground up.

KORE’s Insulated Foundation System ensures there is no thermal break between the wall and foundation, eliminating thermal bridging at one of a building’s most common junctions. The Insulated Foundation System ensures a super-insulated home designed to surpass building regulations and nZEB to achieve high Building Energy Ratings – including Passive House Certification and other low energy building method.

Airtighness & Thermal Imaging
Learn how single leaf masonry construction can :
  •  Fast track the construction process
  •  Reduce construction costs
  •  Improve thermal, structural and fire performance
  •  Help move towards Passive House and nZEB standards.
About Gavin:
Gavin has been airtightness testing since 2006 and has been a member of the NSAI certified tester scheme since its inception in 2008, making him the longest certified NSAI tester in the country. In that time he has tested several thousand buildings and spaces for airtightness, from little cabins to large warehouses. He has been doning thermographic inspections also since 2006 and is PCN Level 2 accredited for Thermal Imaging from BINDT (British institute of Non-destructive testing) in the UK for Building Thermography.

Talks description :

1) Airtightness - Achieving it and testing it

This talk looks at what airtightness is, why it is important and how it can be achieved with a range of building methods.  We look at some failures and successes of different methods to achieve airtightness and cover what seem to be the key things to focus on when trying to achieve airtight buildings. We also look at testing of the buildings - how its done and how to interpret the results.

2) Thermal imaging - Understanding what it is is and how it can be used in Buildings
This talk looks at how thermal imaging is used in the context of buildings.  We look at the required conditions for a successful survey, the equipment used, and examine sample images for a range of phenomena that may be detected using infra red thermography. We also look at some pitfalls that can present when analyzing thermal images.

Passive Sills
About Passive Sills:
Passive Sills manufacture window sills and decorative mouldings for the construction and external insulation industries. Our window sills include a retrofit oversills which can be fit over old or damaged window sills to give the appearance of a new full windows sill.

Passive Sills products are manufactured from EPS 200 ultra high-density polystyrene and coated with a custom resin to give the look and feel of traditional concrete products.

In comparison to traditional products, Passive Sills greatly reduce cold bridging. Our products also comply with the new EU Near Zero Energy Building Standard, unlike traditional products. This standard sets a goal for the energy efficiency of houses being built going forward.

Passive Sills products are also lightweight, greatly reducing manual handling risks and the requirement for extra loading equipment.
